Economics:
How you work Economics has provided me with a methodology for understanding and making sense of our complex environment.
Learning about economic concepts can help you to understand the news, make financial decisions, shape public policy, and see the world in a new way.
It helps to understand the various signals that experts look for when making decisions that will ultimately affect your pocket book.
Economists can make two kinds of arguments. Positive reasoning is scientific reasoning, based on theories and evidence.
Policy decisions often employ normative reasoning, which is based on values.
It is a mistake to think that economics deals only with the making, spending, saving, and investing of money or with the creation, development, and management of wealth.
1. Cash rate
The cash rate is also called the official interest rate, and it is the interest rate off which all borrowing is based. The Reserve Bank uses the cost of money to control demand.
2. Inflation
Inflation is the rising cost of goods and services. The Reserve Bank uses the cash rate to keep inflation within the bounds of 2-3 per cent.
3. GDP
The growth of gross domestic product (GDP) measures how fast the economy is growing. GDP growth is like a national scorecard and is currently around 3.0 Percent, above the global trend.
4. Global growth
The Reserve Bank looks at global growth because it defines the health of our broader market place.
5. Labour market
Strong employment is essential when you control the economy with interest rates. Banks won't lend to those with no job and economic confidence is weak with high unemployment.
6. Exchange rate
The current "low" exchange rate of the Australian dollar against the US dollar is more a return to trend. It makes some imports more expensive but it helps exporters.
7. Industrial v services economy
The RBA refers to the "mining economy" and the "non-mining economy" (all industries other than mining). Economic growth has traditionally been based on the mining industry in Australia, which is currently not experiencing growth. However, Australia has seen recent growth in the non-mining sector. This economic transition matches the recent Chinese shift from industrial to a services economy.
8. Household consumption
Household consumption equals consumer confidence in buying and selling goods and services. It is currently strong.
9. Balance of trade
This is simply the difference between how much we export and how much we import. Every economy would love to export more than it imports and Australia usually hasn't. Since 1971 our normal state has had a trade deficit.
10. Business investment
One of the big stimulants for not only the economy but also the jobs market is business investment. In 2015, capital expenditure was down around 16 per cent on 2014.

What does a digital marketer do?
A digital marketer develops, implements, manages, and measures an
organization’s online marketing strategy and campaigns. Many online marketers
specialize in different types of digital marketing, like social media, SEO,
content marketing, and PPC.
Generally, digital marketers aim to
accomplish their company’s overall goals, like increasing revenue, by achieving
smaller goals, like improving the organization’s website traffic, social media
following, and conversion rate.
In almost all cases, online marketers will
measure the performance of their business’s digital marketing strategy
with metrics, also called key performance indicators
(KPIs), on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.

What is Direct Traffic? How is it different
from Organic Traffic?
If you are using or if have ever used Google Analytics, you
would have seen this word “Direct Traffic” in the dashboard along with Organic,
Referral and other types of traffic.
The name “Direct
Traffic” is quite simple but this is a type of traffic which
ain’t as simple as its name.
The customer replied “I was referred by your existing customer
ABC”.
That’s pretty good. Right?
This is an example of referral traffic.
This person came directly to the store. No one referred him.
This is an example of direct traffic.
Possible sources of direct traffic to your website
#1. User typed the URL in the browser
#2. Traffic that is coming by clicking on a link in a PDF or other
document
#3. Traffic coming from bookmarked links
#4. Redirects from HTTPS to HTTP

Data – What is it?
We live in a highly digital world today & data plays a
critical role in this digital world. If a marketer is able to understand the
data well, the marketing campaign would be much more targeted & fetch great
results.
Hence, it becomes important to understand the various types of
data:
- First
Party Data
- Second
Party Data
- Third
Party Data
Let us explore 1st, 2nd and 3rd party data in detail in this
article.

What is First Party Data?
First Party Data is the data that is collected by the company
directly from its audience. It can be the data collected by customers, social
media followers, website visitors, email subscribers, etc.
This is the most important type of data as it comes directly
from the brand’s customers & audience who are interacting with the brand’s
social media, website or landing pages.
The brand is not spending any additional money in capturing this
data. If the company is not collecting & using this data, it is loosing out
a lot. Yes, because anyways the company is having its audience in this digital
world.
This type of data is of very high quality & relevant.
First party data can be used to predict customer’s behavior,
gain insights, personalize ads, retargeting and much more.
Amazon suggests you products on the basis of your previous
purchases & the products that it displays to you are unique to your
profile. That’s the power of first party data. It helps in delivering highly
personalized experiences.
What is Second Party Data?
Second party data is not your own data but someone else’s first
party data. It is coming from an external source. But it is still reliable.
You purchase it from the company for which it is the first party
data. Now this means that you must have a relationship with a company that can
sell you it’s first party data.
One key thing to remember is that the data is not coming from
your audience but from the audience of the company that collected it. This also
gives you an insight of the audience of that company from which you purchased
it.
A good example of second
party data can be coaching institutes collecting data from schools/colleges to
understand the students profiles and then trying to promote their institutes to
the students and their parents

fter completing BCA in 2007, I appeared for the MCA entrance
exam but unfortunately couldn’t make it. My GCET rank was 951, and the
admission cut-off was 900.
At that time, I made my mind to do a full-time job and part-time
study. A few months later, I started an MBA from SMU (Sikkim Manipal University)
on a part-time basis. Due to a heavy workload and attempts to grab other
opportunities, I had to drop the last semester. In a way, I started my first
job back in 2008 as an SEO executive.
My first job after completing BCA was Data Research Analyst.
But, I left it in just 25 days because it was a night-shift and completely
changed my lifestyle. There was no family life, no celebration, and no
enjoyment! You can say, my work-life balance was utterly disturbed.
Then I joined the eCommerce and BPO Management course in GLS
CME, Ahmedabad. There was one chapter about SEO in the eCommerce part of this
course, and it was my turning point!
SEO attracted me a lot, and when I applied for the post of an
HTML developer in IndiaNIC in March 2008, I ticked on the SEO skill! After
getting a call from HR and giving two interviews in a day, I was selected for
HTML developer and SEO analyst posts. But, I chose SEO because it had more
salary (INR 6500 a month) than the HTML developer at that time.

Content writing
t’s been said before that “all wealth
comes from writing,” and based on my experience, I believe that to be true.
But it’s not what you think.
Most of us probably think of content
writing as literature or creative writing.
Writing is all of that, but it’s
much, much more.
At its core, content writing is the
ability to transform thoughts, ideas, and emotions into the written word.
Content writing is a powerful form of
communication, one that allows you to influence, persuade or convince the
hearts and minds of those who consume it.
And this makes writing an exceptional
skill to have; a superpower.
